Naivete

'And the sad part is she never saw it coming.'

The idea is that the train carries another image, like a painting, with it. The image is supposed to mask the fact that the train is coming at all. That way it can sneak up and surprise her.

Naivete is the fact that she was fooled by it. She believed the best about the situation, even while she was walking the tracks. Who walks on the tracks and expects they won't get hit by a train eventually, right?

But she was truly surprised. Was that the train's fault or was it hers?

Naivete implies that is was hers.

And that train just plowed over everything. In two seconds she'll know why she shouldn't have been so optimistic. Maybe next time she'll avoid the tracks. (If she lives.)
